Undergraduate

In the UK, an undergraduate degree is an academic step up from A-levels or their equivalent. The
university will offer undergraduate courses, this is the first step to earning your degree, there are
generally three kinds of undergraduate courses and all last up to three years combining workplace
learning and academic study. The majority of universities will offer an undergraduate course with a
foundation year or a placement year to boost your skills. Length of Undergraduate program is 3
years or 4 years with placement.

Pre-Masters is mainly designed for international students who need to improve their English or

years to complete part-time. A postgraduate diploma, postgraduate degree or master’s degree
offers the student an advanced level of education in their chosen area of study, and gives them a
wider knowledge A huge part of postgraduate study revolves around independent research.
Length of Postgraduate program is mainly 1 year. However, it can be 2 years with placement.

A foundation year is essentially just an extra year at the beginning of a university course. It helps you

getting back into education a foundation year can be something to consider as it gives you that extra
confidence boosts as well as refreshing your knowledge to move straight on to studying your degree,
it’s also very likely that the university will give you and offer to study your degree with a foundation
year included. Length of Foundation Year is 9 months to 12 months. Foundation Year can be named
as a “International Foundation Year” or “International Foundation Zero”.

A short course is a learning programme that is offered to you by the university that gives you the
opportunity to obtain combined content of transferable skills as well as specific skills training in a
particular subject short courses often lean towards the more practical side of things and have less
theory; this gives you a more hands-on experience within your field of interest. The short courses
offered by the universities tend to be anywhere between 3-12 months. they often also have 
alternative methods of teaching and learning such as online making it easier for you, or if you have
other commitments.
Short courses are bespoke. Length of these courses can from 4 weeks to 3 months.
